The St. Louis Blues acquired Jakub Vrana from the Detroit Red Wings on Friday in exchange for fellow forward Dylan McLaughlin and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Vrana, 27, has collected a goal and an assist in five games this season. He entered the player assistance program in October before being released in December.

Vrana has totaled 32 points (22 goals, 10 assists) in 42 games over parts of three seasons with the Red Wings since being acquired from the Washington Capitals in the trade involving Anthony Mantha.

A Stanley Cup champion with Washington, Vrana recorded 189 points (98 goals, 91 assists) in 326 career games with the Capitals and Red Wings. He was selected by Washington with the 13th overall pick of the 2014 NHL Draft.

McLaughlin, 27, has one goal in six games this season with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League.
