BetBoom, PSG.LGD maintain dominance at DreamLeague Season 20

BetBoom Team and PSG.LGD kept bulldozing their way through Group Stage 2 of DreamLeague Season 20 by recording 2-0 sweeps on Monday.

The two remaining undefeated teams improved to 4-0 ahead of their scheduled match against one another Tuesday.

BetBoom swept Team Spirit and PSG.LGD did the same to Talon Esports. Also Monday, Gaimin Gladiators knocked down 9Pandas 2-1 and Evil Geniuses rallied past Team Aster 2-1.

Three days remain in a seven-day, single round robin to determine which four teams will advance to the playoff round.

Sixteen Dota 2 teams from around the world were invited to DreamLeague Season 20 to compete for a $1 million prize pool. The winner will receive $300,000 and the runner-up will earn $175,000, with the top two finishers also qualifying for the Riyadh Masters later this year.

Group Stage 1 went from June 11-14, with a single round-robin format and all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advanced to Group Stage 2 and formed one single group of eight, featuring best-of-three matches. The top four finishers from Group Stage 2 will qualify for a double-elimination playoff stage June 24-25.

On Monday, both of BetBoom’s two map wins over Spirit came in 44 minutes on green. Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko of Russia posted a combined kills-deaths-assists ratio of 24-5-11 and countryman Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko added 33 assists for BetBoom.

PSG.LGD defeated Talon in 54 minutes and 47 minutes, both on red. Guo “shiro” Xuanang of China combined for 19 kills, five deaths and 20 assists for PSG.LGD.

Gaimin Gladiators opened with a 41-minute win on green before 9Pandas countered with a 39-minute on green. But GG clinched it on the final map with a 34 1/2-minute win, also on green. Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp of the Netherlands racked up 38 assists for GG, including a team-high 12 on the final map.

Team Aster, playing one day after coach Bai “rOtk” Fan announced his resignation on a livestream, won its first map in 37 minutes on red. But Evil Geniuses stormed back to win in 36 minutes twice, both on red. Jose “Pandaboo” Padilla of Peru contributed 37 assists for Evil Geniuses, includijng 14 on the decisive map.
