Germany’s Bernhard Langer shot a 4-under par 68 on Saturday in the second round of the Chubb Classic in Naples, Fla., to take a two-stroke lead into Sunday’s final round.

Langer, also the 18-hole leader, had a chaotic round, finishing with seven birdies against three bogeys to sit at 12-under 132r at Tiburon Golf Club.

Langer leads a trio of players who are tied for second place at 10 under, two shots back. Scott Parel charged up the leaderboard with the day’s best round of 64. He’s tied with Retief Goosen (67) of South Africa and Tim Petrovic (68).

Jerry Kelly (68) is tied for fifth with New Zealand’s Steven Alker, who surged 21 spots up the leaderboard with a 65. The pair are four shots back at 8-under 136.

Langer, who has 42 Champions Tour titles to his name, began his round with a birdie en route to four on the front nine with a bogey. But then he carded two bogeys on Nos. 12 and 17 while birdying three of his final four.

“It was a little more up and down. Yesterday I had a very clean card, no bogeys,” Langer said. “I felt it was a little tougher today. Different wind direction, and stronger wind as well. Couple of really good hole locations, but didn’t play quite as solid as yesterday and didn’t make quite as many putts.”

Parel put himself into position with a bogey-free round and eight birdies, a far cry from his opening 70 on Friday.

“Yesterday I was very, very scrappy. It was not pretty out there,” Parel said. “Somehow I was 4-under par and hadn’t hit very many good shots, and then it kind of exposed me on the back nine.”

Alker put together a round with six birdies, a bogey and a finishing eagle on No. 18.

“Just really pleased to finish that way,” he said.
