Atlanta Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter to have knee surgery

Atlanta Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday.

The team said Sunday that Dr. Kyle Hammond will perform a lateral meniscus debridement procedure at the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center in Atlanta.

An update on Hunter’s recovery plan will be provided approximately two weeks following the surgery.

Hunter, 23, has missed the last four games with discomfort in the knee caused by wear and tear, the Hawks said.

The No. 4 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Virginia, Hunter is averaging 17.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 18 games (all starts) this season.

He averaged 12.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 63 games (62 starts) as a rookie in 2019-20.
