Arthur Blank sells share of the Falcons, per report

The Atlanta Falcons owner since back in 2002, Arthur Blank has helped rebuild a previously dormant organization. He’s also now among the most powerful owners in the NFL.

While that’s not going to change any time soon, the 76-year-old Blank has sold 10 percent of the team to current limited owner Brian J. Barker.

“The NFL owners, who are gathered in Phoenix for the annual spring league meeting, are voting on the transaction on Monday,” D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday. “The deal is estimated to worth $300 million of the franchise’s worth, which is projected at $3 billion.”

According to most-recent Forbes estimates, the Falcons are worth a cool $2.6 billion. The sale price seems to indicate an escalation to nearly $3 billion when 2019 estimates are released during the fall.

Back in 2001, when the deal was not yet finalized by the NFL, Blank paid a cool $545 million for the Falcons’ franchise. Needless to say, he’s cashed in big time.
