Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthon Davis left Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors after the first quarter with a left eye injury and was later ruled out for the remainder of the game.

On a drive to the basket, the Warriors’ Trayce Jackson-Davis brushed Davis across the face with his arm. Davis stayed in the game until the end of the first quarter but went to the locker room before the second quarter began.

Davis had eight points and four rebounds in all but three seconds of the first quarter before departing. Without his defense on the floor, the Warriors scored 37 points in the second period and shot 60.9 percent from the field to erase a seven-point deficit.

In his 12th NBA season, the 31-year-old averaged 24.7 points with 12.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists heading into Saturday’s game. Davis was playing in his 64th game — all starts — his most in a season since he played in and started 75 games for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2017-18.
