The Los Angeles Angels placed outfielder Mike Trout on the 60-day injured list Sunday, officially ending the season for the 11-time All-Star.

Trout, 32, broke the hamate bone in his left hand on a swing in a July 3 game against the San Diego Padres. After undergoing surgery, the three-time MVP returned on Aug. 22, but went back on the IL after one game with residual hand soreness and has not played since.

Fighting for a playoff spot at the start of August, the Angels have been without both Trout and Shohei Ohtani (elbow, oblique) since Sept. 3 amid a second-half collapse. The club already has been eliminated from playoff consideration.

Trout batted .263 with 18 home runs and 44 RBIs in 82 games this season. He played 119 games last season and just 36 in 2021 because of injuries. The 2012 American League Rookie of the Year is a career .301 hitter with a .994 OPS, 368 home runs and 940 RBIs in 1,489 games.

Also on Sunday, the Angels selected the contract of right-hander Carson Fulmer and reinstated Mike Moustakas (forearm) from the injured list. In addition, the club placed left-hander Tyler Anderson on the 15-day injured list with left knee pain, while infielder C.J. Cron (back) went on the 10-day IL.

Fulmer, who last pitched in the major leagues in 2021, had a 5.00 ERA in 13 minor league appearances this season.

Moustakas, who was acquired at the trade deadline from the Colorado Rockies, batted .243 with eight home runs and 30 RBIs in 61 games with the Angels.

Anderson, in his first season with the Angels after signing a three-year, $39 million contract, struggled to a 6-6 record and a 5.43 ERA in 27 appearances (25 starts) with his new club.

Cron, who also was acquired from the Rockies at the deadline, had one home run and five RBIs in 15 games with the Angels.
