Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray will skip the French Open to focus on preparation for Wimbledon.

The 36-year-old British player’s name was removed from the entry list for Roland Garros on Sunday.

Murray was a 2016 finalist in Paris, losing to Novak Djokovic. He has not competed in the French Open since 2020.

The clay-court tournament begins on May 28. Fourteen-time champion Rafael Nadal of Spain and Australia’s Nick Kyrgios also have withdrawn due to injuries.

Murray, a former World No. 1, is a two-time winner at Wimbledon (2013, 2016) and won the U.S. Open in 2012.
