The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Thursday that three members of their organization have tested positive for COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus.
In a statement, the 76ers said they received the recommendation to test players, coaches and specific support staff for COVID-19. The tests, which were secured privately, determined that three individuals tested positive for the coronavirus.
All three individuals are now in self-isolated and are being monitored by medical professionals.
The Denver Nuggets recently announced that a member of their organization tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, seven NBA players have tested positive for the virus, including Kevin Durant.
There are two known cases in baseball and New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said he tested positive for COVID-19. Payton is the first person in the NFL to test positive for the virus.
According to Johns Hopkins University, there are more than 11,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the United States.
