49ers’ LB Kwon Alexander out for season with torn pectoral muscle

While the San Francisco 49ers escaped Thursday’s game over the Arizona Cardinals with a win, they’ll now be without star linebacker Kwon Alexander for the remainder of the 2019 season.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Alexander suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Thursday’s game and he will miss the remainder of the 2019 season.

It’s a devastating blow for one of the NFL’s best defenses. San Francisco signed Alexander to a four-year, $54 million contract this offseason and he instantly became an impact player for the defense.

The 25-year-old had 34 tackles with four pass deflections, one interception, a forced fumble and excelled in coverage. In his absence, linebacker Dre Greenlaw will likely see significantly more snaps.
