Bucs star Mike Evans donates $100K to help fight COVID-19 in Florida and Texas

Tampa Bay Buccaneers star receiver Mike Evans is donating $100,000 to help support local communities as they deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bucs shared the news of his generous act on Twitter, noting half of that money will go to United Way Suncoast, which operates in DeSoto, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota counties in Florida.

“These critical dollars will do so much to help families who are struggling in this crisis,” CEO of United Way Suncoast Jessica Muroff said.

The remaining $50,000 is being donated to Evans’ hometown of Galveston, Texas “to further aid in COVID-19 relief efforts there.”

Evans’ new teammate, Tom Brady, has also been one of the many athletes to answer the call to help financially in this time of need. While everyone is pretty much stuck at home, there are ways to impact the lives of people around us, and they certainly have done that.
