Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras put his power on display often during the 2019 season and he’s already off to a hot start in spring training. When the star catcher stepped to the plate for his first at-bat of the spring, he nearly crushed the souvenir out of the ballpark with an epic moonshot.

After hitting 24 home runs last season, Chicago’s 27-year-old star knew it was gone the moment he made contact. Once the fans heard the loud pop off his bat, they all turned and watched as the baseball rocketed to deep left-center field and deep into the grass.

There were rumors during the offseason that the Cubs might explore trading Contreras, but nothing ever came to fruition for many of the teams hoping to land him. If he can stay healthy this season, which has been a problem in the past, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Contreras hit 30-plus moonshots this season in the heart of the Cubs lineup.
