Chinese state TV refuses to air NBA opening night

The Communist regime in Beijing is taking its anger over Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey’s support of Hong Kong to an entirely new level.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Chinese state television (CCTV) is not airing Tuesday night’s season-opening NBA doubleheader, a slate that includes LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

“In a commentary over the weekend, CCTV said NBA commissioner Adam Silver will face ‘retribution sooner or later’ for saying last week that Chinese officials made it clear they wanted Morey fired,” Windhorst reported. “The Chinese government denied Silver’s claim.”

As noted in the report, Silver mentioned last week that those close to the Chinese government demanded that Morey be fired over his support of pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong. Silver obviously didn’t oblige.

This also comes on the heels of James receiving some flack domestically for failing to support Morey or call out the oppressive leadership in the Far East nation.

This is obviously retribution the regime in China warned of through the propaganda machine that is its state-run television network.
