Dolphins waive Kendrick Norton with NFI designation, per report

Kendrick Norton

The Miami Dolphins have reportedly waived Kendrick Norton, who lost an arm due to a recent car accident, with a non-football injury designation, per Field Yates of ESPN.

The NFI designation allows the Dolphins to continue paying Norton his full salary, while also freeing up a roster spot ahead of training camp.

Originally a seventh-round pick out of the University of Miami by the Carolina Panthers, the former Hurricanes star signed on with Miami’s practice squad last December.

Norton was injured in an accident on July 4th, and police later identified he was at fault in the wreck. As a result of his injuries, Norton lost his left arm due to amputation.

The NFL has since agreed to pay for his extensive medical bills following multiple surgeries.
