Even with his Golden State Warriors not playing for anything Tuesday night, there’s no way that center DeMarcus Cousins was going to sit this one out.
It was Cousins’ first and only opportunity to play against his former Pelicans team in New Orleans this season. If Cousins’ start to the game was any indication, he decided to bring anger with him to the court.

To say that things didn’t go swimmingly towards the latter part of Cousins career in New Orleans would be an understatement. He suffered a torn Achilles back in January of 2018 — missing the remainder of the season in the process.
Cousins himself felt low-balled by offer the Pelicans handed his way during free agency. He ultimately decided on a one-year deal with the Warriors.
This represents Cousins’ first game back in New Orleans since departing in free agency.
For good measure, Pelicans fans could be heard booing the big man early in the affair. Needless to say, we’re not going to see a reunion once Cousins hits free agency in July.
