Browns say Condoleezza Rice is not a candidate for HC job

Reports surfaced earlier on Sunday that the Cleveland Browns want to interview former United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for their head coaching vacancy.

It’s somewhat of a shocking revelation given that Rice has absolutely zero coaching experience at any level and is known around the football world solely for her presence on the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.

In responding to said report, Browns general manager John Dorsey denied that Rice is a candidate for the gig. All the while, the front office executive seemed to lob a ton of praise in Rice’s direction.

Considered by some to be a candidate to replace Roger Goodell as NFL’s Commissioner, it seems Rice would be better suited for a front office role. Hiring someone without any coaching experience to run a team on the field would be completely out of left field.

What we do know is that Cleveland will cast a wide net in their coaching search. Whether that includes Rice moving forward remains to be seen.
