Former San Diego Chargers legend LaDainian Tomlinson has recently become much more involved with the franchise since it moved to Los Angeles.

Last year he landed a role with the organization as a special assistant, and this summer his duties will expand as he takes on a role in the team’s preseason television broadcasts.

The team announced this new role on Tuesday. Tomlinson joins NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah and Mario Solis as the newest members of the team’s television broadcast team.

“In the booth for Chargers’ preseason telecasts, Tomlinson will provide color commentary and expert analysis alongside Spero Dedes, who enters his fourth year as the play-by-play voice for Bolts preseason games, and Hayley Elwood, who will add preseason sideline reporting to her duties as team reporter.”

The Chargers have struggled to retain the support of their fans since making the hugely unpopular decision to move from San Diego to Los Angeles.

Obviously, bringing Tomlinson on board as a broadcaster is one of the ways the franchise hopes to get fans more interested in the team. It should also help matters that the Chargers appear to have what it takes to challenge for a playoff spot in 2018.
