WATCH: Emotional moment as White Sox honor boy fighting cancer

The Chicago White Sox are taking on the Cleveland Indians at home on Wednesday in a game that pits first place against a squad battling its way out of the American League Central cellar.

Certainly, the 2018 season has not been good to Chicago. But the scene prior to Wednesday’s game at Guaranteed Rate Field was about as emotional as it was inspirational.

The White Sox hosted seven-year old, Alex Estrada, who is battling the rare cancer called Neuroblastoma.

Here, we see the entire White Sox’ team line up around the corners of the infield to cheer Estrada on as he crosses the base paths.

Here’s another view of the memorable moment for young Alex.

The seven-year old is a current patient at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago and has been in and out of chemotherapy treatment. Wednesday’s special day at the park came as a major surprise to the young kid.

As we can tell, the White Sox did everything possible to make this a special day for Estrada.

It’s times like these that we look far beyond the baseball diamond and realize just how much of an impact these teams can have on young fans.
