Report: Mets hopeful Noah Syndergaard will throw bullpen session this weekend

Noah Syndergaard

Noah Syndergaard has been out of commission since late May as he’s dealt with a strained ligament in one of his fingers on his pitching hand.

The New York Mets were initially hopeful that Syndergaard would be able to pitch last weekend, but ultimately he needed more time for the ligament to fully heal.

However, there’s some good news on this front, which is that the Mets are now hopeful their lanky ace will be able to throw a bullpen session in New York this weekend, per Mike Puma of the New York Post.

For the season, Syndergaard has a 4-1 record in 11 starts with an ERA of 3.06 and WHIP of 1.18. He also has 76 strikeouts and 13 walks in 64.2 total innings of work.

The Mets are a hot mess right now, and they have been, both with and without Syndergaard on the mound. There are rumors out there that New York is open to trading pretty much anyone on the roster, including Syndergaard and fellow ace Jacob deGrom.

With that in mind, getting Syndergaard back in action could be nothing more than a prelude to him being shipped to a contender in exchange for some building blocks.
