The NBA is reportedly expanding its Summer League.

“In addition to tournaments in Las Vegas and Utah, the NBA plans to introduce a 2018 Sacramento Summer League,” Ben Dowsett of The Athletic reported on Sunday. He also noted that the event is “tentatively scheduled to include the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.”

Given the success of the annual event in Las Vegas, it makes sense to expand the Summer League to include other cities. And given the young talent featured on the four teams (some of it yet to be determined ahead of the draft) tentatively included in this expansion it could make for some exciting basketball.

The NBA has done a very nice job of giving young players a chance to prove their worth. In addition to the NBA Summer League, the G League has been a great way to develop young talent, some of which has advanced to the NBA level and found success there.
