Pistons reportedly interviewing former Raptors head coach Dwane Casey

Former Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey might not be out of a job long after he was fired by the team following an extremely successful 2017-18 campaign.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Casey is meeting with the Detroit Pistons on Thursday in relation to their vacant head coaching job after the team parted ways with Stan Van Gundy.

A highly respected basketball mind, Casey led the Raptors to a franchise record 59 wins this past regular season. Unfortunately, a four-game sweep at the hands of Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Semifinals cost him his job.

Casey, 61, posted a 320-238 record in seven seasons as the Raptors’ head coach. During that span, he led the team to three 50-plus win seasons and five consecutive postseason appearances.

Detroit is looking to turn the corner after a less-than-stellar four-year span under Van Gundy that saw the team earn just one playoff appearance. Overall, the Pistons have made the second season just one time since the 2008-09 campaign.
