Report: Redskins president Bruce Allen could leave for the Raiders

It’s possible that Washington Redskins president Bruce Allen could be conducting his final draft with the organization. Long considered a divisive figure within the team’s front office, it’s being reported that Allen could jump ship to the Oakland Raiders following this weekend’s draft.

“There continue to be steady rumblings in the scouting and personnel community that Skins team president Bruce Allen could end up back with the Raiders in some capacity after the draft and some wonder if Gruden shuffles his personnel department more after the draft,” CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported.

Allen played a role in Washington’s decision not to offer Kirk Cousins top quarterback money. Instead, the team decided to let Cousins walk in free agency while acquiring Pro Bowl signal caller Alex Smith from Kansas City. Allen’s relationship with Cousins had been considered a major issue in the past. And in reality, it’s not the only person within the organization that Allen has had an issue with.

If the Raiders do decide to bring Allen on board, this could potentially indicate the end of general manager Reggie McKenzie’s time in Northern California. If the first round of Thursday’s NFL Draft is any indication, Gruden is now running the ship in Oakland.

It’s definitely something to keep an eye on over the next several days.

For now, Allen remains in the Redskins’ front office as the final two days of the 2018 NFL Draft plays out on Friday and Saturday. Whether he has a huge decision-making role remains to be seen.
