Report: Michigan OC Tim Drevno has resigned

Corey Malone-Hatcher had to end his football career at Michigan due to an Achilles injury

The Michigan Wolverines are now looking for an offensive coordinator. According to Brandon Justice of The Wolverine Lounge, Tim Drevno has resigned from his position.

Drevno, who also served as the O-line coach, has followed the path of Jim Harbaugh throughout the last 15 years, only spending one season at a different spot. They coached together at San Diego, Stanford, with the San Francisco 49ers and at Michigan.

This is a major development for Michigan, which has fallen short of expectations in each of the last two seasons. And through three years of Harbaugh’s tenure, the offensive line has consistently struggled under Drevno’s watch.

For the Wolverines to rejoin the group of national contenders and stay there, it’s imperative they perform better up front. That simply wasn’t happening with Drevno, who reportedly may have run off respected assistant Greg Frey.

Michigan recently hired former Florida boss Jim McElwain, and former Ohio State assistant Ed Warriner is an offensive analyst. Between those two coaches and Pep Hamilton, Harbaugh has in-house candidates to fill the positions Drevno’s departure opens.
