Report: Packers to interview Gus Bradley for defensive coordinator job

The Green Bay Packers’ coaching staff is currently in the midst of wholesale changes after the team moved on from both offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett and defensive coordinator Dom Capers following a disappointing 2017 season.

It’s now apparent that recently extended head coach Mike McCarthy is looking for another experienced mind to run the defense. It’s in this that the team will reportedly interview former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley for its vacant defensive coordinator position.

Bradley spent this past season as the Los Angeles Chargers’ defensive coordinator, leading a unit that surprisingly ranked third in the NFL in points allowed. But his contract with the team expired on Tuesday.

Prior to that, Bradley spent four seasons as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach. That came after a four-year stint as the Seattle Seahawks’ defensive coordinator. He’s a respected mind on that side of the ball, and would be a nice change from Capers’ old schematic ways.
