Eagles’ Darren Sproles looking to make a comeback in 2018

Darren Sproles

A name we have not seen in NFL news headlines since September is Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles. Sproles’ 2017 season was cut short when he broke his arm and tore his ACL in Week 3.

Rehabbing and on the mend, the 34-year-old running back is considering a return in 2018.

“I don’t have to play next year, but I’m leaning towards coming back,” Sproles said, via Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “I can’t end like this.”

According to the report, Sproles was at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Ca. where his Eagles teammates are holding their practice. Sproles lives nearby in San Diego.

If the running back wants to make a return, he will do so as a free agent. That is unless the Eagles choose to re-sign him next March. Sproles turns 35 next June, but he has proven he can still contribute.

Sproles has always been as quick as lightening and he’s darn near impossible to catch when he finds an opening to run.

To date, the three-time Pro-Bowler has tallied 8,022 total scrimmage yards on offense as well as 79 touchdowns. Sproles has also recorded 11,142 special teams yards and seven return touchdowns.

Sproles’ desire to return and complete his career on a healthy note is understandable. No player wants their NFL career to end in injury. We wish Sproles the best while he continues his rehabilitation.
