LeBron James to voice character in animated movie

LeBron James

LeBron James is taking his talents to the big screen again.

The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar announced he will voice the character “Gwangi” in upcoming movie “Smallfoot.” The film is scheduled for a late September release in 2018.

LeBron is simply one member of a star-studded cast, which features Zendaya, Channing, Tatum, Danny DeVito, Gina  Rodriguez, James Corden and Common, according to the movie’s IMDB page.

“Smallfoot” is the latest of what seems to be a blossoming movie career for LeBron. He’s set to star in Space Jam 2 — for which James is also an executive producer — appeared in recent film Trainwreck and is the co-founder of SpringHill Entertainment.

Other involvement in the film industry includes appearances on SpongeBob SquarePants, Entourage and Teen Titans Go! He’s also an executive producer for an upcoming Muhammad Ali documentary.

James, who has a player option for the 2018-19 season, could become a free agent next summer. The Los Angeles Lakers have been a rumored destination for the 33-year-old, and continued acting roles will pick up the conversation due to proximity.

However, directly connecting the Lakers with James’ relationship with the film industry is unfair. It’s not like LeBron will be juggling his basketball schedule with TV or movie roles. As long as he’s an NBA player, it’s reasonable to expect one of the greatest talents in history to focus on the court.

But regardless of his basketball decisions, LeBron has a future in Hollywood.
