Jets RB Matt Forte week-to-week with toe injury

Matt Forte

Just as the New York Jets got their first win of the season, the team will be without starting running back Matt Forte for at least one week with a toe injury.

Forte had to exit Sunday’s win against the Miami Dolphins and is considered week-to-week.

On the trade block to start the season, Forte has been part of a committee approach with Bilal Powell and rookie Elijah McGuire thus far this season. The former Pro Bowler is averaging 4.3 yards on 23 attempts while leading Jets running backs in both receptions and receiving yards.

The expectation here is that Powell will take over the starting role with McGuire seeing substantially more action. The first-year player from Louisiana-Lafayette is averaging a robust 4.8 yards per rush on the season.

New York takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday with an opportunity to even its record at 2-2.
