The NFL did hand down a suspension to a member of the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, but it’s not the player we’re all thinking about. The league has reportedly suspended defensive end Damontre Moore for the first two games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Moore, 27, was a third-round pick of the New York Giants back in 2013. After bombing out in the Big Apple, he spent the past two seasons with the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks. The veteran was added on a two-year, $1.7 million deal for the pass-rush starved Cowboys back in March. Many expected him to play a rather big role on defense this upcoming season, especially after he performed well in limited action with Seattle last year.
It’s just the latest off-field issue for a Cowboys team that continues to deal with distractions away from the football field.
As of Friday afternoon, the NFL had not yet decided if it will suspended star running back Ezekiel Elliott. A decision on that matter is not expected until next week at the earliest.
