We can state one thing for certain. Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter is annoyed.
On Tuesday, Showalter seemed annoyed that the flu the Boston Red Sox have been hit with had become such a public story, noting that other teams have the same issues.
Buck: "Everybody in the league’s got a flu issue. Our guys have done a good job not broadcasting it to the world.” #orioles

It’s a solid point. The Red Sox are one of the more publicized teams in the league and as such, everything that happens in Boston is heightened. Given that Red Sox owner John W. Henry is also the principal owner of The Boston Globe, it’s reasonable to at least assume that the team itself is helping to “broadcast” it.
On Wednesday, the Baltimore manager was asked to follow up. In doing so, he took another shot at Boston, before shifting his attention to the media for apparently misinterpreting his thoughts.

Were Showalter’s comments misinterpreted? It sure seemed like he was trying to “needle the Red Sox” but frankly, that’s justifiable.
At any rate, Showalter doesn’t seem to be in a great mood these days. So, if you notice him walking down the street, the best advice would be to steer clear.
