Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is “very likely” going to need surgery to repair a meniscus injury to his left knee, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.

Embiid injured his knee back at the end of January and has remained out since then. He was diagnosed with a torn meniscus during the second week of February, and reports shortly after that indicated doctors were hopeful he’d return soon.

However, that hasn’t happened for the big man, who will now miss the rest of the season if surgery is the best option.

Embiid has all the talent in the world but cannot seem to stay healthy. He’s missed both of his first two seasons with a foot injury and is now going to miss around half of his first season playing in the NBA.
