Dorial Green-Beckham fined $6K for ‘Yeezy Foundation’ cleats

Dorial Green-Beckham

Dorial Green-Beckham made headlines for the wrong reason when he wore “Yeezy Foundation” cleats during the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats week.

There’s no such thing as the “Yeezy Foundation,” meaning DGB didn’t actually have a cause — it was made up — other than to wear Kanye West-endorsed cleats (Yeezy 350, which sold out immediately after their September release).

Not surprisingly, the NFL has fined Green-Beckham for his faux pas — a $6,076 mistake, per Tim McManus of ESPN. The fine is consistent with the NFL’s normal penalty for wearing out-of-uniform cleats.

The bigger penalty was what Green-Beckham’s mistake looks like in the court of public opinion. While guys like Tajae Sharpe are bringing attention to causes that are truly admirable (more on that here), the Eagles receiver just made himself look like a fool.
