Report: Tarvaris Jackson pleads not guilty for aggravated assault

Tarvaris Jackson

Tarvaris Jackson has pleaded not guilty on the count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, TMZ reports.

The plea was filed last Friday, per the report. That’s interesting because it was that same day that Jackson claimed he was too broke to pay for his own defense and had asked a judge to provide public assistance. That request was denied.

Jackson is being accused of pointing a loaded gun at his wife and threatening to kill her while their children slept in the next room. A witness alleges that it not for their efforts at stopping him from pulling the trigger, the deed would have been done.

The NFL quarterback was also intoxicated at the time.

While the Seattle Seahawks had previously expressed interest in potentially re-signing Jackson to their squad for the upcoming NFL season, it seems unlikely that he will land a job as a quarterback until his current situation is resolved.
