Report: Matt Forte signing with New York Jets

Matt Forte is going to the Big Apple to sign with the New York Jets, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This move makes a ton of sense for both parties.

The Jets just watched Chris Ivory bolt down south to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Forte still wants to be a featured back.

In fact, it could be argued that New York got an upgrade. No offense to Ivory, who was terrific last year, but he cannot hold a candle to Forte as a three-down back.

Whether you’re talking about running, catching or blocking, there aren’t many in the NFL as skilled as Forte, who can still perform at a high level at the age of 30.

Last year, despite missing three games with an injury, he rushed for 898 yards with four touchdowns, adding another 398 yards and three touchdowns catching 44 passes.

No matter who ends up playing at the quarterback position, they’ll have an excellent partner in Forte, who will be motivated after being spurned by the Chicago Bears, the organization he dedicated himself to for the past eight years.
