Report: Dolphins targeting Ezekiel Elliott in draft

The Miami Dolphins have been in on nearly all of the best running backs on the free agent market, but have seen them all go elsewhere.

As a result, they’ll likely be targeting a running back on draft day.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, Miami has turned its attention to Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott.

“As the Miami Dolphins have continued to lose out on landing free-agent running backs this offseason, they have become increasingly enamored with Ezekiel Elliott and will have the Ohio State star in their sights come draft day.”

Elliott is the best running back available in the draft and was a statistical monster at Ohio State. He topped 1,800 yards in each of his last two seasons for the Buckeyes. Elliott also rushed for 18 touchdowns in 2014 and 23 in the 2015 season.

The running back seems to have a flare for the big games, as he earned offensive MVP honors in both of Ohio State’s postseason games during their national title run in 2014.

After trading down from the eighth spot in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles last week, Miami is picking 13th overall. And after losing Lamar Miller from a rushing attack that was among the 10 worst in the NFL last season, it stands to reason the Dolphins would have a need here.
