Report: Marshawn Lynch will play Sunday against Panthers

Beast Mode is finally making his return for the Seattle Seahawks Sunday. Ian Rapoport reports Marshawn Lynch will play against the Carolina Panthers in the NFC divisional round.

It’s been since November that Lynch took the field for the Seahawks. He suffered an abdominal injury that required surgery and hasn’t been back since.

It was thought that he’d be able to play last weekend but the running back pulled himself out of the lineup saying he wasn’t ready.

Seattle could certainly use Lynch this Sunday against one of the toughest defenses in the NFL. Carolina, led by Luke Kuechly, shut Lynch down for the most part in their regular-season meeting. In that game he only gained 54 yards on 17 carries, though he did score a touchdown in a loss at home.

For the season, Lynch only managed 417 yards on 111 carries with three touchdowns, appearing in seven games.

Last weekend the Seahawks managed just 97 yards on 28 carries as a team playing in sub-freezing temperatures against the Minnesota Vikings. If ever Lynch was going to make a big splash this season, this would be the ideal time.
