Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge is nearing a decision to end his free-agent status, but one suitor would like another chance to speak with him.

According to John Canzano of The Oregonian, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is seeking a second meeting with Aldridge.

Canzano continued, saying “the Spurs still feel like [Aldridge is] going to be in San Antonio.”

Yahoo’s Marc Spears said Popovich, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker would meet with Aldridge. According to Buck Harvey of the San Antonio Express-News, Patty Mills joined the trio on Wednesday.

The Spurs opened cap space for Aldridge by signing Danny Green to a below-market deal then trading Tiago Splitter and his $8.5 million contract to the Atlanta Hawks.

According to reports, Aldridge has visited the Los Angeles Lakers twice and has also met with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors. Aldridge cancelled a pitch from the New York Knicks and may be considering the Portland Trail Blazers, his team for nine seasons.

The power forward is expected to sign a max or near-max contract.
