Stephen Curry Makes MVP Statement in Win Over Portland Trail Blazers

Stephen Curry is the most unfair player in basketball.

Behind the superstar, the Golden State Warriors outlasted the Portland Trail Blazers 116-105 on Thursday at Oracle Arena.

The sixth-year pro burned the net for 45 points on a remarkable 17-of-23 overall mark from the floor, including an 8-of-13 clip from long distance. He dished nine assists, helping the Warriors improve to 64-15 and match a franchise record with 36 home victories.

What’s more, Curry broke his own NBA record of 272 single-season three-pointers, ending his night at 276 for the year. How the Baby-Faced Assassin closed the game, however, was 100 percent absurd. Ridiculous. Jaw-dropping.

It was MVP-worthy.

Curry tallied 19 points during the fourth quarter, 10 of which came in the final 122 seconds of the matchup.

But enough words. Curry’s highlights can do all the talking.

Curry had almost reached half-court by the time the triple that pushed Golden State’s lead to five points and helped them pull away splashed through the net. Then, with 1:10 remaining before the final buzzer, Curry hoisted one of his patented quick-release jumpers, avoiding LaMarcus Aldridge’s outstretched hand to provide the dagger.

The fadeaway gave the Western Conference champions an eight-point advantage, which Curry soon followed up with a dream-shake layup and another trifecta.

If anyone was waiting for a statement performance from Curry, he supplied it Thursday night. He carried the Warriors down the stretch, single-handedly sealing a victory.

What Curry does on the basketball court is not fair. Just give the man his hardware already.
