Joint with Aaron Hernandez’s DNA Found at Murder Scene

Almost literally the smoking gun in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial.

According to various reports, a marijuana cigarette found at the scene of Odin Lloyd’s murder contains DNA from the former Patriots tight end, who is currently on trial for the murder of Lloyd.

Here’s a photo of the key piece of evidence (via TMZ).

A report from ABC News indicates that an employee in the state crime lab in  Massachusetts told the court that the joint contained DNA from both Hernandez and the victim (Lloyd).

Diane Fife Biagiotti of the state police crime lab told jurors that she received rolling paper from a 2-inch-long cigarette butt to test for DNA. She said she found it had the DNA of at least two people on it.

She said she first compared it with Lloyd’s DNA and discovered he could have been one of the people whose DNA appeared on the butt. She said she then was able to use Lloyd’s DNA to deduce the second DNA contributor.”

Biagiotti then directly linked the DNA to Hernandez.

I did a comparison between the profile I deduced and the profile of Aaron Hernandez. I found that the profile from Aaron Hernandez matched the deduced DNA profile.”

Hernandez’s trial started in late January, and it’s unknown when it will go to the jury. However, this piece of information could be damning to the defense.
