The St. Louis Rams enter Thursday night’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals with two consecutive wins by a combined 76-0 score. They do so with Shaun Hill playing solid football under center.
But no one in their right mind views Hill as the long-term solution at quarterback. This has led some to openly wonder what the Rams have planned at this all-important position moving forward.
Interestingly enough, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher just recently indicated that the team would like to have former No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford return in 2015.

Bradford is set to count $16.6 million against the cap in 2015, which is a number that the Rams will not bring him back at. So in order for the under-performing and injury-plagued former No. 1 overall pick in order to return, he would have to take substantially less.
Even then, do the Rams honestly view Bradford as a long-term solution? He has suffered torn ACL’s twice in the last three years and simply hasn’t progressed like the Rams had hoped. He’s 18-30-1 as a starting quarterback and is averaging just 225.8 yards per game throughout his career.
The issue with closing the door on Bradford completely is the lack of other options. Hill isn’t the answer, and Austin Davis showed he’s not a starter-caliber quarterback in the NFL.
In addition to this, St. Louis will not be in a position to select one of the top quarterbacks in what promises to be a weak 2015 NFL draft class at that position. This doesn’t even factor in a weak free agent class “led” by Mark Sanchez.
