Odds in Vegas Influenced by King James’ Decision

If you’re on Twitter you’re seeing all things LeBron James, and nothing else really. The King announced he was “coming home” to Sports Illustrated’s Lee Jenkins in a letter James wrote himself. He ended the letter saying “I’m coming home.” His homecoming sparked more than a social media buzz, but the news stretched all the way to Sin City where his announcement that he was coming back to the Cleveland Cavaliers made an impact as well.

According to betvega.com, it was just moments after the announcement was made that betting outlets gave out odds.

The 2015 NBA Finals landscape just changed dramatically with LeBron James rejoining Cleveland. The Cavs immediately jumped to the favorite to win the 2014 NBA Title moving from 33/1 odds to 4/1.

The 2015 NBA Champion Odds from BOVADA:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers 4/1 (33/1) before LeBron
  • Los Angeles Clippers 10/1
  • Miami Heat 50/1 (3/1 before LeBron left)

The odds are no surprise, and this isn’t the first time this week that Las Vegas has seen odds in regard to James.

Before he made the decision, there were odds on where the 29 year-old was going to go.

CBS Miami said that the Heat was actually the team that was the favorite to hold on to him.

There are several betting outlets giving odds on James’ ultimate destination. Averaged out into probabilities, Miami is still going off as the most likely landing place for James at almost 50%.

Goes to show, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
