Geno Smith Asks Why the Jets Can’t Make the Super Bowl

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith might be coming off a pretty bad rookie campaign, but it hasn’t stopped him from setting sky-high expectations in 2014. The young signal caller, who will likely earn the starting job over veteran Michael Vick, seems to think the Jets have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl.

You read that right…the Super Bowl.

There might be a few things stopping a Jets’ Super Bowl run. One of which being Smith himself. The young quarterback struggled big time in his rookie season, tallying 12 touchdowns compared to 21 interceptions and putting the ball on the grass eight times.

Outside of that, the Jets are simply not a team that can realistically contend for a Super Bowl. They might have some young talent on both sides of the ball, but it’s not going to be enough to compete with the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos in the AFC.

New York finished last season with an 8-8 record and made a late run at the postseason. Its future is incredibly bright, but that future is far beyond the 2014 season. At least, Smith is confident in his team. That’s a positive.
