It’s a deal that most expected to happen prior to the start of the regular season, but it had just been reported that Kaepernick and the 49ers were meeting for the first time this week since the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis earlier in the offseason.
The deal is said to be worth over $126 million with $60 million guaranteed.
Kaepernick has led the 49ers to the Super Bowl and NFC Championship game in his first two seasons as their starter. With Kaepernick now under contract, San Francisco can now turn its attention to a whole host of other youngsters it needs to lock up. With that said, this is the first chip that needed to fall.
