The era of good feelings in Cleveland has come to a crashing hault just a few hours after the Browns made some huge draft-day splashes on Thursday. According to this report by ESPN’s “Outside the Lines,” Browns wide receiver Josh Gordan is facing a suspension for the entire 2014 NFL season.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon could face a season-long suspension after a second failed drug test months ago, this time for marijuana, sources told “Outside the Lines” on Friday.
This is a tremendous blow to a Browns’ organization that added quarterback Johnny Manziel in the first round of the 2014 draft last night. Gordon, who has had his fair share of off-field issues, is coming off a career campaign that saw him lead the NFL with 1,646 yards in just 14 games last year. He was going to be relied on to be the Browns No. 1 wide receiver in 2014 and beyond.
Unfortunately for the Browns, they’re likely going to have to go out there this evening and exhaust a pick on a wide receiver. More than that, Gordon’s entire future with the organization is up in the air.
