Cleveland Browns Have Found Their Quarterback Savior…Vince Young

Vince Young

Okay, well the former top-five pick of the Tennessee Titans is actually going to workout with the Cleveland Browns on a “tryout basis.” He’s slated to take a physical with the team today and participate in the mandatory minicamp this week.

Young last saw action in a regular season game as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles’ “Dream Team Squad” of 2011. He threw nine interceptions in just 114 pass attempts that season. The former Texas Longhorn has spent time in training camp with both the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills since then.

He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2006 and 2009 as the Titans starting quarterback. In five seasons with the Titans, Young won 30 of his 47 starts, but struggled with issues on and off the field towards the end of his tenure there.

This decision makes some sense for the Browns and comes at nearly no cost.

They currently have Brian Hoyer, who is coming off a torn ACL, slated to start this upcoming season. The only other quarterback on the roster if Alex Tanney. Cleveland figures to add a potential franchise signal caller sometime early in the draft next week. The best-case scenario here is Young competing for a backup job when training camp rolls around during the summer months.
