Report: Tyler Eifert has knee/back injuries, might not play in Week 3

Tyler Eifert

The Cincinnati Bengals, already flailing on offense through two weeks, might head into Week 3 without star tight end Tyler Eifert. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Eifert is dealing with knee and back injuries, and his status for Sunday’s game is uncertain.

This will be Cincinnati’s first road game of the season, and the team will be going into the contest with a new offensive coordinator after Ken Zampese was fired last Friday.

Eifert has not exactly been a huge factor for the Bengals through the first two weeks of the season. He’s caught just four passes for 46 yards. Then again, the entire offense has been a broken thing, so it’s uncertain if his poor showings have been more due to Andy Dalton’s performance or because Eifert has been struggling to stay healthy.

The tight end, when healthy, has proven himself to be a difference-maker. Unfortunately, staying healthy has not been easy. He’s missed significant time in two of the last three seasons for the Bengals.

Through his career Eifert has caught 127 passes for 1,537 yards and 20 touchdowns.
