Kyle Long booted from Bears practice for fighting

Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long did not have a good Monday. He was tossed from practice after getting into a fight.

After practice, which was closed to the media and the public, head coach John Fox told reporters that he booted Long from practice.

“There’s a certain standard we have and it’s something we weren’t very pleased with,” Fox said after practice, per CSN Chicago. “I haven’t had a chance to visit with him yet, but it’s something that we’ll handle it internally.”

Recently, Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman Germain Ifedi missed about a week of practice after being leveled by his own teammate, Frank Clark. Pete Carroll held Clark out of multiple practices for crossing the line in that case, and it seems like more and more coaches are nipping these types of events in the bud.

Training camp fights are common. They occur every summer in practices all around the NFL. Clearly, Fox isn’t going to put up with them, though. Especially now that the Bears are moving out of the training camp portion and into the weekly routines that the team will settle into during the season.
