T-Wolves 1st-round C Justin Patton ‘out indefinitely’ with broken foot

The Minnesota Timberwolves will not have first-round pick Justin Patton for an indeterminate amount of time after he suffered a broken foot.

The team announced Patton’s injury Tuesday. He broke the fifth metatarsal on his left foot and underwent surgery to repair the injury.

Obviously, Patton won’t be able to participate in the Summer League. The bigger question now is whether he’ll be ready for the start of the season.

The 7-foot center out of Creighton was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the No. 16 overall pick of the draft. He was brought over to Minnesota as part of the monster trade for Jimmy Butler.

Last season, in his only campaign at Creighton, Patton averaged 12.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
