Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas lofts praise Paxton Lynch’s direction

Paxton Lynch

The Denver Broncos will hold a quarterback competition between incumbent Trevor Siemian and second-year signal caller Paxton Lynch once training camp kicks off.

Speaking up with some first-hand knowledge on how both quarterbacks are progressing, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas had this to share regarding Lynch.

“The first couple weeks, you see Paxton … people are talking about it, but the last couple of weeks where he was just out there lighting it up,” Thomas said, per Mike Klis of 9News. “It was like ‘Whoa, where did that come from?’”

Thomas also shared this after with working Siemian during the offseason.

“Trevor’s speaking up more than Paxton. Paxton’s still young and Trevor played a lot more last year. They both had their up and down days.”

Both quarterbacks will have training camp to give their best performances in an attempt to win the starting job.

Siemian produced an 8-6 record last year and completed 59.5 percent of his passes, resulting in 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Lynch started two games for the injured Siemian, showing himself to be incredibly raw in the process.

The Broncos’ passing game suffered and ranked 21st in 2016 with the two young quarterbacks under center.

As a result of an overall anemic offense, the Broncos missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011. Hopefully, this summer’s competition will produce a quarterback who can get the offense performing back at a high level.

Thomas and fellow receiver Emmanuel Sanders are two of the best in the league and should thrive with a better performance under center.
