Andrew Hawkins tells Patriots he will retire

Andrew Hawkins

After signing with the New England Patriots during free agency, wide receiver Andrew Hawkins has informed the team he plans to retire.

Hawkins said that his body just wasn’t ready to play after participating in OTAs ahead of training camp. Acknowledging what his body is telling him is the right thing to do.

Hawkins graduated with a 4.0 and earned an Ivy League master’s degree from Columbia University in May of 2017. Perhaps it is time to pursue his dream of becoming and NFL general manager. Hawkins also said that he is going to get started on his PHD.

The receiver played for six seasons in the NFL after being signed by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011. He spent three years in Cincinnati followed by three seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

We wish him all the best with the next chapter in his life.
