Donald Trump to reportedly tab Jets owner ambassador to the United Kingdom

Just one day before he’s set to be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump is making some news around the professional sports world.

According to a report from CNBC, Trump is set to name New York Jets owner Woody Johnson to be the ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Johnson supported Trump in the presidential race against Hillary Clinton, both publicly and financially. It’s not terribly uncommon for huge donors to be given ambassadorships when a new president takes office.

Johnson, the Jets’ owner since 2000, will have to give up control of the team as he takes to the role as the United States highest diplomat to one of its biggest allies.

The 69-year-old executive has no foreign policy or government experience. Though, he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a public policy think tank based in New York City.
